Zinc Finish and Full-Extension Reach in a 150 lb Side-Mount Slide

The Knape and Vogt 8600 Series is an 18 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 150 lb per pair, finished in zinc, and sold in bulk pack for cabinet shops and contractors running volume installs. This is the heavy-duty step up from the standard 100 lb cabinet class — built for storage drawers, shop benches, and utility cabinets where loads routinely push past what a kitchen slide handles.

Key Features

• 150 lb weight rating per pair — a genuine heavy-duty capacity for drawers carrying tools, files, or dense stored goods.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face so everything at the back is reachable.
• Steel ball bearings in full-length raceways — smooth, consistent travel under load across thousands of cycles.
• Non-handed design — identical slides fit left and right, so there is no sorting on the bench.
• Zinc finish — standard indoor corrosion resistance on cold-formed steel members.
• Bulk-pack packaging — case quantities for production work, without retail overhead.

Where This Slide Works

At 150 lb per pair, the 8600 series handles the drawers that standard 100 lb cabinet slides are not sized for. A mechanic's tool drawer loaded with sockets and wrenches, a shop utility cabinet with cans and hardware, a garage storage unit holding power tools — these are the applications the 8600 was built for. Full extension means the drawer member travels the full 18 inch slide length, bringing the rear of the box all the way out to the cabinet face. That matters when the back of a deep drawer holds items you actually need. The slide also suits commercial and institutional casework where a heavier duty class is specified but an undermount is not required.

Materials and Finish

The 8600 series is cold-formed steel with a zinc electroplate finish. Zinc is the working standard for side-mount ball bearing slides in interior environments — it resists the ordinary humidity and handling that comes with a busy shop or utility room. The finish is functional rather than decorative; these slides sit beside the drawer box and are largely out of sight once the drawer is closed. For applications where finish visibility matters or color matching is needed, other finish options in this series are available.

Sizing and Cabinet Fit

Side-mount installation requires 1/2 inch of side clearance per slide, so the drawer box is built 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening. The 8600 is non-handed — the same slide goes on both sides without flipping or sorting. In frameless cabinets the slide mounts directly to the side panel. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting support is required; add the appropriate rear brackets for your installation, sold separately, as they are series-specific and not interchangeable with other brands. Bulk-pack quantities suit shops ordering by the case rather than by the pair.

Built for the Drawer That Actually Gets Loaded

When the job calls for a heavy-duty side-mount slide that brings the full drawer clear of the cabinet and handles the weight behind it, the KV 8600 series in zinc delivers that capacity in a non-handed, bulk-ready format built for production work.
