This is an 18 inch full-extension, side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Fulterer, rated 100 lb per pair, with an integrated soft-close damper and a zinc finish that blends with standard cabinet interiors. It is built for kitchen drawers, utility cabinets, and any application where a clean-closing, mid-size drawer is the goal.
An 18 inch slide suits the deep drawer boxes common in base cabinets and kitchen islands — deep enough to hold pots, pans, or organized pantry goods without the slide running out of cabinet depth. Full extension means once the drawer is open, the rear contents are as reachable as the front. The soft-close damper is not a spring close and not a detent: it is a true damped mechanism that absorbs the last inch of travel and lets the drawer settle shut on its own momentum. That distinction matters in a kitchen installation where repeated slamming shortens hardware life and frustrates occupants.
Because the mount position and 1/2 inch side clearance match the standard side-mount ball bearing format, this slide drops into the same opening as a plain BB slide of the same length. That makes it a practical soft-close upgrade on a drawer that was already running on conventional side-mount hardware.
The slide is cold-formed steel throughout, with zinc plating for indoor corrosion protection. Zinc is the workhorse finish in this product class — functional, durable, and unobtrusive. It is not a decorative finish and is not rated for wet or outdoor environments. On most installed drawers the slide sits beside the box and out of direct sight, so the zinc finish serves its purpose without drawing attention. The steel construction handles the rated 100 lb load per pair through daily cycling without deflection or rattle.
Cabinet shops running kitchen and bath projects reach for an 18 inch soft-close slide as a volume item — it covers the majority of base-cabinet drawer depths and delivers the quiet close that clients now expect as standard. Designers specifying residential kitchens include it wherever handle pull and soft-close are both on the checklist. Contractors and remodelers use it to upgrade existing cabinetry without changing the drawer box or the cabinet opening, because the non-handed design and standard 1/2 inch clearance match the hardware already in place. Homeowners tackling a cabinet refresh find it straightforward to install and noticeably better to use.
True soft-close. An integrated damper slows the drawer over the last portion of its closing travel. There is no spring pulling the drawer shut — the drawer closes quietly under its own momentum, controlled by the damper.
No. The soft-close mechanism only acts during closing. The slide is full extension, so the drawer opens to the full length of the slide and the entire interior is accessible.
Each slide requires 1/2 inch of side clearance. Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening — 1/2 inch per side — to give each slide the space it needs.
No. The slide is non-handed, so both pieces in the pair are identical. Order one pair per drawer regardless of which side each slide mounts on.
Side-mount slides in face-frame cabinets need rear support because the cabinet side is set back from the face frame. Add the appropriate rear mounting brackets for your installation — brackets are series-specific and sold separately.
The right slide disappears into the cabinet and does its job without thought — drawers open fully, close silently, and stay that way through years of daily use. This 18 inch zinc slide delivers that outcome at standard side-mount clearance with no left-right sorting and no extra hardware to source.
