This is a 28 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Fulterer's FR 5001 soft-close line, rated 100 lb per pair, with an integrated damper that settles the drawer shut quietly. The zinc finish is a functional, workhorse surface well suited to cabinet interiors where the slide stays out of sight beside the open drawer.
Standard kitchen base cabinets run 24 inches deep, and a 22 inch slide handles them comfortably. Step up to a 28 inch slide when the cabinet is deeper: full-depth pantry pull-outs, deep base cabinets in islands, utility rooms, and shop storage all benefit from the longer travel. At full extension, the whole drawer clears the opening — nothing stays hidden at the back. The soft-close damper is especially useful on longer drawers, where the extra mass means a harder close without it.
Electroplated zinc over cold-formed steel is the standard protective finish on side-mount ball bearing slides, and for good reason. It resists the indoor humidity swings common in kitchens, utility rooms, and workshops without adding cost or visual weight. The slide sits beside the drawer box when the drawer is open — it is a working component, not a visible finish detail. Zinc keeps it protected and performing through years of daily cycles indoors.
This slide is the right fit for cabinet shops building pantry cabinets, deep island bases, or any run where the standard 22 inch slide leaves the back of the drawer inaccessible. Residential installers will find it at home in kitchen renovations specifying soft-close throughout. The non-handed, 1/2 inch clearance-per-side design means it drops into the same workflow as any standard side-mount slide — no extra planning for left and right members, no change in drawer box formula. Pair with the appropriate series rear mounting brackets when working in face-frame cabinets.
No — 28 inches is the closed slide length. Because this is a full-extension slide, the drawer member travels approximately the full length of the slide, bringing the entire drawer out to the cabinet face. Slide length and travel are two separate facts.
True soft-close. An integrated damper slows the drawer over the last portion of its closing travel and settles it shut quietly. A self-closing spring pulls the drawer shut without damping and can still slam; this slide does neither — it decelerates the drawer.
Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening — the slide requires 1/2 inch of side clearance on each side.
Yes. Side-mount slides installed in face-frame cabinets need rear support at the back of the slide. Add the matching series rear mounting brackets, sold separately, to keep the rear end of the slide properly positioned.
The slide uses a lever disconnect. Actuate the levers on both slides and pull the drawer straight out to remove it for cleaning or service.
Longer drawers carry more and close harder — the 28 inch soft-close slide brings the damped close where it matters most, keeping pantry pull-outs and deep base cabinet drawers running smoothly and quietly for the long haul.
