Fulterer FR5400SL 4-Pair Box 18" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5365

A Zinc-Finished Heavy-Duty Drawer Slide That Holds Its Position — Open or Closed

This is an 18 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Fulterer's heavy-duty line, rated 550 lb per pair in a zinc finish, with mechanical detents that lock the drawer in both the fully open and fully closed positions.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — built for seriously loaded drawers that the standard 100 lb cabinet class cannot safely carry.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face, giving complete access to contents at the back.
• Hold-in detent — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer closed and stops it from bouncing back open after a firm push.
• Hold-out detent — a second detent holds the drawer fully open until intentionally pushed closed, keeping it out of the way hands-free.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical, fitting either side without sorting on the bench.
• Zinc finish over steel — the standard corrosion-resistant finish for indoor heavy-duty slide applications.

Where This Slide Earns Its Place

A 550 lb per pair rating sits in a different class from the kitchen and office slides most buyers encounter. This is the slide for shop drawers loaded with hand tools, service benches carrying heavy parts trays, or industrial cabinets where the contents alone approach or exceed what a standard side-mount slide is rated for. The hold-in/hold-out combination is what makes it practical in those environments: the hold-in detent means a heavy loaded drawer does not drift or rebound open on its own, and the hold-out detent keeps the drawer extended without anything propping it, so both hands stay free while working from the open drawer. Full extension brings the back of the drawer completely out to the cabinet face — no reaching past the drawer opening on a deep box.

Construction and Finish

The slide members are steel, running on ball bearings in full-length raceways for smooth, consistent travel even under the loads this class is rated for. The zinc finish provides indoor corrosion resistance; this is a functional protective coating suited to shop, industrial, and utility environments, not a decorative surface. Side clearance on this series is 3/4 inch per side — wider than the 1/2 inch clearance of standard cabinet slides — so the drawer box must be sized accordingly: build the box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening total to account for both sides.

Who This Slide Is For

Woodworking shops, fabrication benches, and industrial service cabinets are the natural home for this slide. It is also a strong choice for any heavy storage drawer where the drawer must stay put in both positions — open while loading or unloading, closed while not in use. The non-handed design means a single part number covers both sides of every drawer, which simplifies ordering across a multi-drawer cabinet build. For face-frame cabinet installations, rear support at the back of the slide is needed; confirm rear mounting bracket compatibility for this series before ordering.

The Right Slide for Heavy Work That Stays Put

When the drawer is loaded with real weight and needs to hold its position in both directions, the zinc-finished Fulterer 18 inch heavy-duty slide brings the capacity and the dual-detent control to match — one pair, one part number, no sorting required.
