Fulterer FR5400SL 4-Pair Box 22" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5367

Fulterer Ball Bearing Slide Built for Drawers That Carry Real Weight

This is a 22 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Fulterer, rated 550 lb per pair, with integrated hold-in and hold-out detents that keep the drawer exactly where you put it — closed or fully open. The zinc finish suits indoor installations where a hardworking, low-profile look is all that is needed.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — engineered for drawers that would stress or destroy slides in the standard 100 lb cabinet class.
• Hold-in and hold-out detents — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer closed until pulled, and holds it open until pushed shut, so it stays put in either position.
• Full extension — the drawer member travels the full slide length, bringing the entire drawer clear of the cabinet opening for complete access to the rear.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical, so there is no left or right to sort on the bench.
• Steel ball bearing construction — hardened steel balls in full-length raceways deliver smooth, controlled travel under extreme loads.
• Zinc finish — a functional, durable surface treatment standard for heavy-duty steel slides in indoor environments.

Where 550 Pounds of Capacity Changes the Job

At 550 lb per pair, this slide is not a cabinet upgrade — it is a structural workhorse. Think of the tool chest in a machine shop with a bottom drawer packed with heavy iron, the gun safe pull-out that carries a full rack, the industrial workbench drawer loaded with welding rod and angle grinder wheels, or the commercial kitchen prep station where sheet pans, hotel pans, and cast iron stack up fast. A standard 100 lb kitchen slide fails silently in these applications; this one is built to handle the load without deflection or rough travel. The hold-in/hold-out feature adds practical value in these environments: a loaded drawer that stays open hands-free is a safety and efficiency improvement when both hands are occupied at the work surface.

Steel, Zinc, and the Logic Behind the Finish

The slide is cold-formed steel throughout, with ball bearings running in precision steel raceways. The zinc finish is electroplated over the steel members for indoor corrosion resistance — it is the established standard for heavy-duty slides used in shops, garages, and industrial cabinets where the slide is functional hardware rather than visible furniture detail. Zinc is not stainless and is not rated for wet or washdown environments; this slide belongs indoors. At 3/4 inch of required clearance per side, the drawer box for this slide is built slightly narrower than the opening than a standard 1/2 inch clearance slide would require — worth accounting for when building new boxes or retrofitting existing drawers.

Who Specifies This Slide

Cabinet shops building tool storage, workbenches, or industrial casework are the core buyer. Contractors equipping commercial kitchens, gun room cabinetry, or heavy utility rooms reach for it when a realistic load estimate runs past what the standard residential or light commercial class can handle. The non-handed design simplifies high-volume installations: one SKU covers both sides of every drawer, and there are no left/right orientation errors on the job. For shops running production quantities of heavy-duty drawers, that is a real operational advantage. The 22 inch slide length suits standard work surface and utility cabinet depths; confirm your cabinet's interior depth and clearance requirements before building the drawer boxes.

Built to Stay Put Under Load

When a drawer carries real industrial or commercial weight, a slide that drifts open or bounces back closed becomes a genuine problem. The Fulterer 5367 solves both issues at once with detents that hold in both positions, at a capacity that matches what the drawer actually weighs.
