Fulterer 2-Pair Box 56" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5384

Zinc-Finished Ball Bearing Slides Built for Industrial-Weight Drawers

The Fulterer 5384 is a 56 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 550 lb per pair, with hold-in and hold-out detents that keep the drawer exactly where you put it. Zinc-finished steel construction makes these slides the straightforward, work-ready choice for shop cabinets, equipment enclosures, and storage systems carrying serious loads.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — built for drawers carrying tools, parts, equipment, or dense materials well beyond the reach of standard cabinet slides.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet opening so every inch of the box is reachable at full open.
• Hold-in detent — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer firmly closed and prevents it from bouncing back open after a firm push.
• Hold-out detent — holds the drawer in the fully open position hands-free until intentionally pushed closed.
• Non-handed steel ball bearing construction — telescopic steel members run on full-length ball bearing raceways; the same slide fits either side without sorting.
• Zinc finish — a clean, corrosion-resistant surface well suited to indoor industrial and shop environments.

Where 550 lb Capacity and Dual Detents Pay Off

At 550 lb per pair and 56 inches of closed length, this slide is sized for drawers that most hardware cannot handle. Think tool chests loaded with heavy hand tools and power-tool accessories, production storage drawers cycling through bulk fasteners or hardware, equipment enclosures with pull-out service trays, and industrial workbenches with deep drawers carrying metal stock. The hold-out detent is especially useful in these settings: with both hands occupied moving heavy contents in or out, the drawer stays fully open on its own and releases with a deliberate push when the work is done. The hold-in detent completes the pair by stopping the loaded drawer from drifting or rebounding once closed.

Steel Construction with a Zinc Finish

The slide members are cold-formed steel running on hardened steel ball bearings in full-length raceways. Zinc plating provides indoor corrosion resistance appropriate for shop, warehouse, and equipment-room environments. This is a functional, work-environment finish — consistent and durable, not decorative. At this load class and slide length, steel is the right material: the members are built with the section depth needed to carry 550 lb through repeated cycles without deflection.

Sizing and Clearance for This Slide

This is a 56 inch slide, so it suits deep cabinets and enclosures where a standard 22 or 24 inch slide simply does not reach the back of the box. The required side clearance is 3/4 inch per side — build the drawer box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening in total to accommodate both slides. That 3/4 inch clearance is wider than the 1/2 inch standard on lighter slides in this category, and it is a hard requirement at this load class; do not fit this slide into a box sized for 1/2 inch clearance. The design is non-handed, so the same slide mounts on either side of the drawer without modification.

Common Questions

The Right Slide When the Load Demands It

When the drawer is deep, the load is heavy, and you need both hands free while working at the open box, the Fulterer 5384 delivers the capacity, extension, and dual-detent control to keep the job moving.
