Fulterer 2-Pair Box 48" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5380

Zinc-Finished Ball Bearing Slides Built for Industrial-Grade Loads

The Fulterer 5380 is a 48 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 550 lb per pair, finished in zinc and equipped with both hold-in and hold-out detents for drawers that must stay put in demanding work environments.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — handles tool chests, server trays, heavy equipment drawers, and industrial storage well beyond the standard cabinet class.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face so the back of even a 48 inch drawer is fully reachable.
• Hold-in detent — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer closed and prevents bounce-back after a firm push shut.
• Hold-out detent — a second detent holds the drawer at the fully open position until intentionally pushed closed, keeping both hands free at the work surface.
• Non-handed design — identical slides fit left and right; no sorting required on the bench.
• Zinc finish on steel members — indoor corrosion protection that stands up to the shop environment without special care.

Where a 550 lb Slide Earns Its Place

At 48 inches and 550 lb rated capacity, this slide is built for applications that overwhelm standard cabinet hardware. Think machine shop tool drawers loaded with precision instruments, industrial workbench pull-outs carrying heavy fixtures, or equipment enclosures where a loaded drawer must stay fully open while a technician works inside. The hold-out detent is the feature that makes hands-free work possible: the drawer locks at full open and releases with a deliberate push, not an accidental nudge. The hold-in detent on the closed end keeps a loaded drawer from rolling open on an uneven floor or when a wheeled cabinet is moved. Together, the two detents turn this into a slide that actively controls the drawer rather than simply riding under it.

Steel Construction and Zinc Finish

The slide members are cold-formed steel with a zinc electroplate finish — the working standard for industrial side-mount slides. Zinc provides reliable indoor corrosion resistance on a slide that will be mostly hidden beside the drawer box in service. It is a functional, durable finish suited to shop floors, equipment bays, and server rooms: not a decorative choice, but an honest one that does the job without adding unnecessary cost. The 3/4 inch side clearance requirement is wider than the 1/2 inch standard for lighter cabinet slides, so plan the drawer box width accordingly before cutting.

Who This Slide Is For

Cabinet shops fitting out industrial workstations, tool crib drawers, or heavy-duty mobile carts will find the 5380 in the right capacity range for loads that standard 100 lb or 150 lb slides cannot safely carry. It also fits commercial equipment enclosures and rack systems where long travel at high load is a daily requirement, not an edge case. The non-handed design keeps inventory simple — one part number covers both sides of every drawer. Sold as a pair; order one pair per drawer.

The Right Hardware for Heavy Work

A 48 inch, 550 lb slide with dual detents is a precision tool for serious industrial and commercial drawers — reliable where lighter hardware fails, and designed so the drawer does exactly what the operator needs it to do.
