Fulterer FR5400SL 4-Pair Box 20" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5366

Fulterer Heavy-Duty Ball Bearing Drawer Slide Built for Zinc-Finished Industrial Work

This is a 20 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Fulterer, rated 550 lb per pair, with hold-in and hold-out detents that keep the drawer firmly in both the closed and open positions. The zinc finish delivers functional indoor corrosion resistance on a slide designed for serious shop, industrial, and commercial drawer applications.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — far above the standard cabinet class, suited to drawers carrying tools, hardware, or dense materials.
• Hold-in and hold-out detents — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer firmly closed until pulled, and holds it fully open until pushed, so it stays where you put it in both positions.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face, giving complete access to the back of the box.
• Zinc finish on steel construction — standard indoor corrosion protection on heavy cold-formed steel members built for high-cycle industrial service.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical, fitting either side without sorting left from right on the bench.
• 3/4 inch side clearance per side — wider than the standard cabinet slide, sized for the heavy steel members this load class requires.

Where These Slides Earn Their Keep

At 550 lb per pair, this slide handles loads that are beyond the reach of standard 100 lb or even 150 lb cabinet slides. Think of the drawers that actually get abused: a mechanic's tool chest drawer loaded with socket sets and breaker bars, a shop cabinet holding a full set of router bits and collets, a parts storage drawer in a fabrication shop, or a commercial service counter drawer that carries heavy trays. The hold-in detent means a hard slam does not send the drawer bouncing back open — a real concern when drawers are closed quickly under load. The hold-out detent keeps both hands free at the bench; the drawer stays extended until intentionally pushed closed.

Construction and Finish

The slide members are cold-formed steel with a zinc electroplate finish. Zinc is the workhorse finish for side-mount ball bearing slides: it resists the corrosion of a dry indoor environment through years of high-cycle use and keeps the slide members moving freely. This is not a decorative or stainless finish — it is a functional, industrial-grade surface treatment matched to the slide's duty class. The 3/4 inch side clearance per side is wider than the half-inch standard on lighter cabinet slides, reflecting the heavier steel profile that the 550 lb rating demands. Build the drawer box accordingly: the opening width minus 1-1/2 inches total (3/4 inch per side) gives the correct box width.

Who This Slide Is For

This slide is the right choice for anyone building or specifying storage that lives outside the standard kitchen cabinet duty class. Cabinet shops building shop furniture, millwork firms installing commercial service counters, and facilities teams specifying parts-storage cabinetry all reach for a slide in this load class. The hold-in and hold-out detents — rather than a soft-close or self-close mechanism — suit environments where controlling the drawer position matters more than quiet closing. This is a standard-motion slide beyond the detents: no damper, no spring assist, no push-to-open. The drawer goes where you put it and stays there. Sold as a pair; both slides needed per drawer. In face-frame cabinet installations, rear mounting support will be required at the back of the slide — confirm bracket compatibility for the series before ordering.

The Right Slide for Drawers That Work Hard

When the load is real and the drawer needs to stay exactly where it is put, this Fulterer 20 inch 550 lb slide with hold-in and hold-out detents gives the stability that standard cabinet slides cannot match.
