Fulterer FR5400SL 4-Pair Box 36" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5374

Zinc-Finished Heavy-Duty Ball Bearing Slides for Demanding Work Drawers

The Fulterer 5374 is a 36 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 550 lb per pair, with both hold-in and hold-out detents so the drawer stays put whether it is closed or fully open. The zinc finish delivers standard indoor corrosion protection on a slide built for loads well beyond the kitchen-cabinet class.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — rated for genuinely heavy storage, industrial, and work-surface drawers that exceed the standard 100 lb cabinet class.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face, giving complete access to contents at the back.
• Hold-in detent — keeps the drawer firmly closed without bouncing back open when pushed shut.
• Hold-out detent — holds the drawer in the fully open position so both hands stay free at the bench.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no left/right sorting required at installation.
• Zinc finish over steel — the segment's standard indoor corrosion-resistant finish on a cold-formed steel body built for heavy loads.

Where 550 Pounds of Capacity Changes the Job

At 550 lb per pair, this slide sits in an entirely different duty class than the 100 lb cabinet slides that cover most kitchen and office work. That capacity opens up applications where a standard slide would be undersized from the start: shop drawers carrying cast iron tooling, garage storage drawers loaded with hardware and bar stock, workbench drawers that double as assembly surfaces, and industrial storage units where a single drawer can hold hundreds of pounds of fasteners or dies. The 36 inch length matches deep cabinets and tool chests where shorter slides would leave rear contents inaccessible.

The hold-in/hold-out combination is especially useful in work environments. The hold-in detent stops a loaded drawer from drifting or rebounding on a vibrating bench or mobile cart. The hold-out detent keeps the drawer extended and stable while both hands are occupied — no prop stick needed, no drawer creeping closed mid-task.

Steel Construction and Zinc Finish

The slide body is cold-formed steel finished in zinc, the workhorse finish for side-mount ball bearing slides used indoors. Zinc electroplating protects the steel members against the humidity and condensation common in shop and garage environments without adding the cost of a specialty coating. The finish is functional rather than decorative — this slide sits beside the open drawer box, largely out of sight in service.

The 3/4 inch side clearance required per side is wider than the 1/2 inch standard on lighter-duty cabinet slides, which is appropriate for the heavier steel construction at this load class. Build the drawer box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening to leave the correct clearance for each slide.

The Right Fit for Heavy-Load and Industrial Applications

This slide suits professional shops, garage cabinetry, industrial storage, and any worktop drawer where the load or the use pattern has outgrown a standard cabinet slide. It is a standard-motion slide in one sense — there is no soft-close or self-close mechanism — but the hold-in and hold-out detents provide positive positioning in both the open and closed positions, which is the feature set that matters most when drawers carry real weight and the installer cannot afford drift or rebound. For face-frame cabinet installations, rear mounting support is needed at the back of the slide; add series-compatible rear brackets, sold separately, to complete the installation.

Common Questions

Heavy Loads, Secure Positioning, Ready to Work

When the drawer carries real weight and needs to stay exactly where it is put — open or closed — the Fulterer 5374 delivers the capacity and the positive detent action to keep the job moving.
