Fulterer 2-Pair Box 58" Hold-In/Hold-Out Side Mount Full Extension 550 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 5385

Zinc-Finished Steel for Industrial Drawers That Stay Put

This Fulterer 5385 is a 58 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 550 lb per pair, finished in zinc, with dual hold-in and hold-out detents that lock the drawer at both the closed and open positions until intentionally moved.

Key Features

• 550 lb weight capacity per pair — built for industrial, shop, and institutional drawers well beyond the reach of standard cabinet slides.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet opening, putting the back of a deep box fully in reach.
• Hold-in detent — a mechanical catch keeps the drawer firmly closed and prevents it from bouncing back open after a hard push.
• Hold-out detent — a second detent holds the drawer at the fully open position until intentionally pushed closed, keeping both hands free at the bench.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no left or right to sort before installation.
• Zinc finish on steel construction — standard indoor corrosion protection that handles the conditions of a working shop or industrial environment.

Where a 550 lb Detent Slide Earns Its Place

At 58 inches and 550 lb class, this slide is not a kitchen or office product. It belongs in tool chests with drawers full of hand tools, heavy machine components, or industrial parts bins; in server and equipment drawers that carry real steel; and in workbench pull-outs where the drawer needs to stay open while both hands are in use. The hold-in detent stops a loaded drawer from drifting or bouncing back on an uneven shop floor. The hold-out detent holds the open position without props or latches. Together they give the installer and end user predictable, hands-free control at both ends of travel.

The 58 inch slide length suits deep workbenches, long equipment drawers, and storage units where shorter slides fall short. Match the slide length to your cabinet's interior depth and build the drawer box accordingly.

Steel Construction and Zinc Finish

The slide members are cold-formed steel, which provides the structural rigidity a 550 lb load demands across a 58 inch span. The zinc finish delivers the indoor corrosion resistance expected on working hardware in shop and industrial settings — it handles humidity, grime, and the daily contact of a heavy-use environment without sacrificing the smooth travel of the ball bearing raceways. Zinc is a functional finish on a slide that sits beside the open drawer in plain view; it is not decorative, and it is not rated for marine or outdoor exposure.

Who Orders This Slide

Cabinet shops outfitting industrial workstations, facilities maintenance teams building parts storage, and equipment manufacturers specifying drawer access in machinery enclosures are the core buyers for this slide. At 550 lb per pair, it far exceeds the duty class of standard residential or office hardware, so it is the right call when the load estimate sits well above what a 100 to 150 lb slide can handle. The 3/4 inch side clearance per side is larger than the 1/2 inch standard for cabinet-class slides, so the drawer box must be sized accordingly — plan for 1-1/2 inches of total width reduction from the cabinet opening. In face-frame installations, rear mounting support is required at the back of the slide; rear brackets for this series are sold separately.

The Right Hardware for Demanding Drawers

When the load is heavy, the drawer is long, and it needs to hold position at both ends of travel, this zinc-finished Fulterer slide provides the capacity and control to match — sold as a pair, ready to install.
